THE MISSION

Empower our youth:

Integrate them into the community and help them to become responsible, productive citizens

Our goals are to help youth:

  • connect to people and situations where their volunteer participation can make a difference
  • increase their understanding of self and society
  • develop skills that will serve them well as America's future leaders
  • identify needs and develop solutions

Young people who volunteer not only are confident about the impact of their actions; but they also develop a
strong sense of identity and self-worth, and show marked improvement in teamwork and leadership skills.
Further, they identify volunteering as the
change factor in their lives (* Dan Michel, Young volunteers believe
giving up their time is a win-win situation,
Third Sector, June 8, 2007).*   Buoyed by these facts, we aim to
build a broad coalition of parents, educators, businesses, and community leaders to help us achieve our
goal of connecting our young people to volunteer opportunities.

It is incumbent upon us all to act as
SIGNPOSTS, pointing our teens in the right direction.  After all, we are
our children's keepers!
